After reading a lot of weight loss blogs lately and noticing that quite a few of the bloggers who have kept it off or are sticking with it/losing tend to post their daily food intake on their blog, I’ve decided to take the plunge.

I found a template for keeping a tally of daily points used and will be posting each day to keep myself on track. When I start the weekly meetings, weigh-ins and exercise, I will post progress in the template. I’m not posting how much water I drink on this template, but have found one that has a spot for counting glasses of water and flex points used.

I’m not sure that I want to have a weight loss ticker up at this point. I do like to see recipes, food photos and photos of each month’s weight loss progress. It’s encouraging. So those things may be coming in the future.

A shout out (to me)!

When I was listening to my favorite podcasters, Dori and Val over at More Hip than Hippie this past week, I got a big surprise!

Toward the end of most shows, they read listener emails. On episode #82, Val and Dori gave me a shout out for mentioning the podcast on my blog right before reading listener emails. Go me! (you can listen for yourself if you click on the link above & go to episode #82)

Really, it’s a great podcast. I’ve learned so many little things I can do to help the environment. Not big things that will break the bank. Things that are not hard to incorporate into my life. Things that I can do, as a single mom of three growing kids(preteens) to help the environment now & teach the kids to make good choices as they grow up & go out into the world.

You should all give them a listen. (go now!)

Here are a few examples of one change I’ve made:

This year, I’m using less plastic bags. I signed on for Big Ed’s plastic bag challenge & vowed to use half of what I used last year. So far so good. I have been using my own bags a lot of the time – or paper if it’s a choice. Plastic is the last resort these days.

Just a few minutes ago, a guy tried to bag a gallon of milk for me. I just smiled, grabbed the handle & said, “Less stuff for me to throw away with no bag hanging around, right?” He said, “I gotcha!” (and looked at me like I was a loon as I smiled & walked out of the store).

A few days ago, my kids thought I was nuts for loading our groceries directly into 2 cardboard boxes that I’ve been keeping in the trunk of the car instead of bagging them up inside the store (we shop at a grocery store that charges for bags) in our bags from home. When we got home, we brought in the boxes, unloaded the stuff and took the boxes back out to the trunk. No muss, no fuss.

(Go listen to Val & Dori!)

I have changed 9 lightbulbs so far to CFL’s. As lights burn out, I replace them with a CFL bulb. I feel good knowing that these bulbs are using less energy & producing less heat that standard bulbs. When I logged these lightbulbs on One Billion Bulbs dot com, it was neat to see how many others have changed out their light bulbs & logged in to report it. It’s inspiring to see how much money will be saved and how many bulbs have been changed out for CFL’s (and reported on the site) across the world.

The mermaid cake

Chrissie made a mermaid cake for DD4’s birthday. She loves coming up with creative cake ideas & is so good at it. They always look great.

She’s got a couple of photos on her blog. Go see how great the cake was!

Money Blogs

I just added two new links on my sidebar:

MS Mom’s Money and Blunt Money.

These two have loads of finance/get-out-of-debt/budgeting savvy to share with us.

These blogs not only have
good information that they’re using,
information that we all need to learn,
information that we need to be reminded of.
or things we are doing already & need to be applauded for,
but also links to other money websites and blogs that are full of good information.

Give them a look-see!

countdown tickers

Many people find their way to my blog looking for the weight loss ticker that I put on my blog in 2005. It has been removed. However, I’ve made a few samples tickers for you to see.

Visit ticker factory dot com to make your own tickers for all occasions.

The last searches

that led people to my blog (and my comments) are as follows:

stepmother, spanking, belt, on the bedIt’s weird that my blog would show up with this search, but it does. My ex spanked my son with a belt the last time they went to visit (July 2005) and I blogged about it.

Why don’t I remember my dreamsSorry, can’t help you there. Why not keep a notebook by your bed & write down what you can remember before getting up after waking?

blog saved the day!

Last night, my remote control’s batteries died. Luckily, I had the directions for how to reset the codes on the remote here – in my blog – in a Thursday Thirteen post from July 19. πŸ™‚

That saved a lot of time, so I’m glad I posted the list.

She’s a … what?

**names have been changed to protect the guilty**

Today, Phoebe was over talking to Chandler. My desk is near Chandler’s, so I couldn’t help overhearing part of their conversation.

They were talking about their children’s baseball teams. At one point, Phoebe said, “I told him that I hate to be the BARRIER of bad news….”

After that I heard nothing else, I was thinking of what a barrier of bad news would look like. Would it be a big wall of newspapers (always full of bad news), or more like a wall of smoke? Would it be an invisible wall that you keep banging into with your head?

Any ideas?

We now only have the black & white rabbit. (I love Craigslist.. thanks for mentioning it in your blog, Jackie!)

We were told that he’s a boy (after thinking he was a girl & calling him/her Haley all weekend). He’s now named Jack.

He was not named because of jackrabbits.

He was named after Captain Jack Sparrow. πŸ™‚

The Bloggin’ Good Blogger Days

This mission has been taken from The Pajama Mama’s blog.
Will you accept the challenge?

We are so quick to point fingers, place blame and criticize the people in our lives. It is often easier to point out a fault than it is to praise a strength. It is easier to mention something that needs to be done better than it is to acknowledge something that has been done well.

The next few days have been named Bloggin Good Blogger Days in the blogging community. Your mission, shall you choose to accept it (and we believe you will), is to go to as many blogs as you can and point out at least one good thing about the author of that blog. Do your best to give them a warm fuzzy feeling. Show your appreciation, admiration or plain old joy.

Tell them why something they did touched you, why a choice they made shows the true fabric of their moral being. Just go BE NICE to every blogger whose blog you read today. And do not be shy, either!!

Plus, post an entry similar to this one on YOUR blog and ask people to leave warm fuzzies in your comments. Spread the love, people!

Maybe if we take a few days or a week to share warm fuzzies, they will become a permanent part of our daily lives, both on and off the computer.

What is a warm fuzzy that comes to mind when you think of me?

This morning I joined the Oklahoma Blogs webring, as I was born in Oklahoma, live in Oklahoma, have lived here for most of my life, and am a blogger…. I fit the requirements. πŸ™‚

After that, I was thinking about other webrings that might be fun to surf or to join, if I share the same interests. So I spent the past half hour browsing through webring listings. I’m amazed by the variety. Subjects that I’ve never thought about have webrings with hundreds of members. By the time I got to listing number 500, my eyes were starting to blur. No more webring searching for me right now.

Are you in any webrings? Do you read blogs of others in your webring?

I’ve seen 60 of these movies… what about you?

Saw this on teflonjedi’s blog & thought I’d give it a go.

Supposedly if you’ve seen over 84 movies on this list, you have no life. There are 164 movies total. Mark each you have seen and then repost with how many you’ve seen as the subject:

On the movie meter, I guess I have a life. πŸ™‚

Silly me, thinking I don’t have a life b/c I’m always with
the kids, doing kid things and watching kid shows/movies.
