Public Enemies: America’s Greatest Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933-34
by Bryan Burrough
This book paints a vivid portrait of an important time in America’s history. The author takes us to the beginning of the FBI, J. Edgar Hoover, more and more cars on the nation’s highways, gun fights, and men on the run. He introduces us to characters that shaped America with their crimes and life choices. Characters like Baby Face Nelson, Machine Gun Kelly, John Dillinger, Bonnie and Clyde, Pretty Boy Floyd and many others.
I’ll admit that I only began reading it because Johnny Depp will be playing John Dillinger in the upcoming movie that is based on this book. I’m continuing to read it because it’s fascinating and I cannot put it down.
