Sometimes I am not actually laughing aloud when I type LOL, I’ve decided to use something that more accurately describes what I’m doing.

I shall now type LQTM.

LQTM is sometimes what I’m doing when I have the urge to type LOL. Of course, the keys are not as close together and I will have to think before I type, as it requires more than one finger to pull it off, but that’s ok. It’s real. It’s what is happening. It’s what I’ll be typing.

Of course, there will still be the true LOL moments when I really am laughing so hard that I wake the kids or they come running to see what’s happened to cause such laughter… I love laughing like that!

DD’s tooth

Youngest DD told me this afternoon that one of her loose teeth has split in half. She can wiggle the left side and the right side. It’s a molar. Ick.

I told her I’d call the dentist tomorrow to see if I could switch her 6 month appointment with her brother’s 6 month appointment, which I thought was tomorrow afternoon. When I looked at my calendar, though, it’s youngest DD who has the appointment tomorrow. Great timing, huh? I’ll call the dentist tomorrow to make sure they have time to pull it if she’s not found a way to get it out by 4pm (appointment time).

DD is thinking about eating a Starburst candy to try to lose the tooth. We always have Starburst in the house because 4 of them have 15 quick carbohydrates – which is needed if youngest DD has low blood sugar.

A year or so ago, DD had a loose tooth and lost it in a Milk Dud candy, but we don’t have any of those in the house right now.

another conversation

between two of my co-workers yesterday…

A: Meatloaf is 56 today.

B: Oh yeah? Is the meat bad? I heard something about prices on ground beef dropping for some reason.

A: MEATLOAF. A human. It’s his birthday.

B: Oh.

In honor of Talk Like A Pirate Day

For the past few weeks, the kids and I have been going to a different church. It’s been a long time since I couldn’t wait to go back to the next service, but now I feel that way each week. It’s good to know that I’m learning as I worship, that I’m coming out a better person, that I’m building friendships and relationships with fellow Christians again.

Last week, I thought Tuesday was Wednesday and was so disappointed when I figured out I had to wait one more day before Wednesday night service.

The kids are enjoying being part of a very active teen/pre-teen youth group. I’m meeting loads of parents who also have teens/pre-teens. Mom, Chrissie and Chrissie’s children have been coming too.

It’s been a very good thing.

the fair

This morning, I applied for a passport – my first one! Before that, I’d spent a couple of hours at the air force base getting some paperwork straightened out for the kids.

Tonight, the kids and I went to the state fair. We met Chrissie and her kids there. We walked around, rode the space needle, saw a parrot show and the kids rode rides. I’ve not seen such a needless display of skin and so much disgusting food in the same place in quite a while. ICK! I spent quite a bit of time not knowing if I should hide the kids’ eyes or just distract them by pointing out something in the opposite direction.

I’m off to bed. Must get to work early tomorrow to make up some of the time I missed today.

I hope you all have a peaceful, restful night full of sweet dreams.

Thursday Thirteen #48

thirteen thoughts

1. It’s been good to be back at work this week.
2. The past six weeks I was home recovering from a hysterectomy.
3. I think I said, “I’m much better, thanks! Good to see you too!” more on Monday than I ever have in my life.
4. It’s been good to get caught up with everyone at work again.
5. After working with people for several years, day in-day out, it was strange to not see them every day.
6. I’m glad that Chrissie is working with me. Well, not with me, but at the same company.
7. It’s fun to ride to and from work with her and Mom.
8. It’s nice to have time to visit with no interruptions (children).
9. I’m exhausted.
10. I thought that not taking naps for the past couple of weeks would help, but it hasn’t as much as I’d hoped.
11. Life has been much easier this week with dinners already planned out and mostly prepared ahead of time.
12. The kids have not been fans of most of the new recipes I’ve tried.
13. I’ll have them help me pick recipes and plan the “do ahead” cooking next time.

Many thanks to AnaMaria at the JohnnyDeppZone for the photo.

red lights

Captain Jack believes that one of Dante’s cirles of Hell is reserved for betrayers and mutineers.

I happen to believe that those betrayers and mutineers will be driving down an unending road with redlights at every other block/intersection and having to stop at each and every light.

And at each of those lights, having to wait for 3 complete minutes.
Behind the slowest driver in America.
Who will not turn off his blinker.

That, my friends, is a good definition of HELL today.

Yesterday, Smokey was in quite a bit of pain. I got some baby Motrin for him. After the first dose, he slept for an hour and woke up acting like he felt a lot better. I gave him another dose at bedtime and again this morning. He’s been running around and playing today like normal. We’re still not playing catch with him, since he’s supposed to be taking it easy, but he really wants to play.

Baby Motrin = Magic.
Who knew?

Smokey’s like a brand new man/dog.

I had no idea…

Obviously I’ve never had a male dog before.

I took Smokey to get neutered today. I thought the procedure was like a vasectomy – small incisions but all parts basically intact.

I had no idea that it was a castration. I’ve seen castrations of larger animals (having grown up around horses, cows, mules, etc.), but just didn’t realize…

Poor little Smokey is sleeping. The anesthesia still has him a bit loopy, I think.
