In the nail shop…

Have you experienced the feeling of being the only one who doesn’t speak the language that’s being spoken all around you? I’ve only experienced that feeling a few times when it comes to language.. and all of those times were in nail shops. Several different cities… same experience in each.

Today at lunch, I felt like the only American in the nail shop.

My co-workers were discussing last night’s episodes of Desperate Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy and it really was like they were speaking a foreign language.

I had absolutely no idea what they were talking about. They carried on about those two shows for the entire 30 minutes. I sat & listened a bit, daydreamed a bit, made a to-do list in my head….

It was kind of nice to not have to participate or make any effort. I sort of enjoyed the break.
