Dream

(a 100 words post)

I rarely remember what I dream. However, this morning, I remembered. I dreamed last night that I moved to Australia and that I had a baby. For some reason, my bed covers pinched me and the baby whenever we tried to go to sleep. I was exhausted in this dream. Finally, I had to buy a new bed. Then I woke up. I wonder what that means. When I went to bed, I was really frustrated with my children. I wonder if I was stewing about it and decided subconsiously that running away to Australia would be the answer.

I’m so disgusted

After morning church today, my brother in law (BIL), was out in the foyer & saw this guy that looked like he was lost. BIL went up to him & started talking to him. He asked for help with food. So, BIL, not really knowing who to ask since he’s from out of town, turned to me & mom. Mom went & found H., the elder who coordinates the benevolence ministry. H. said we need to talk to B. about the food pantry, but it turns out that B. hasn’t done the food pantry for several years..it’s now run by a lady named L. & one of the deacons, L.

So we tried to track down L. or L., but couldn’t find them. Finally B. came out & told that guy that he could come back on the third Tuesday of the month & get food. After that, I went to find H. again & mom was trying to find dad b/c we were just going to take the guy to a gas station, fill up the gas tank then take him to a grocery store & buy food for him, but in all the confusion, he left.

So…. our church leadership will spend $30,000 on a program to help the church become more “evangelistic”.. but cannot help a man from off the street until the third Tuesday?

I’m so frustrated

I wanted to cry… feeling so helpless.. and disgusted.. and like somehow, the plan that is to be set up to minister to others is not working.

It wasn’t just the elders.. just the attitude of those we tried to get to help us figure out how to help this man as a whole.

A boy, probably 16 or so, saw the whole thing.. and said to BIL, “I cannot believe we let him just walk out without helping him.. there’s tons of food back there in the food pantry.”

We’ve decided that next time, we’ll just take them ourselves & take care of it.

I guess people in my town don’t need help immediately…just on the 3rd Tuesday.
What about every other day, though.. you know?
This guy was hungry today…
I hope he was able to get help today.

The corner where our church is located also has 2 other churches.. different demoninations. I hope that one of those churches were able to help him today.

Friday’s sales

I saw things on Friday when out shopping with my sister that I’ve never seen. We left my house at 4:00 Friday morning. The stores we wanted to shop opened at 5:00, 6:00, and 7:00. First we went to Wal-Mart. My sister wanted to get something in the electronics dept. for her daughter. We got there at 4:25. People were lined up at the front door and at the garden center door. When the doors opened at 5:00, people rushed in. I actually saw people running as if the hounds of hell were chasing them. I saw one lady grab about 7 Cabbage Patch dolls & take off running at full speed thru the store. It was so funny. I thought I was going to fall down from laughing so hard at her.

When my sister was in the electronics department, one lady was trying to leave, and since it was so crowded, accidentally brushed against the lady next to my sister. The lady who got bumped shouted BITCH!! at her and punched her in the back. The other lady turned around & they started fist fighting.. in the electronics section.. of Wal-Mart.. at 5:10am. Unbelievable. No Christmas gift is worth a fist fight in the electronics department of Wal-Mart, ya know?

When my sister’s husband called (he was working at a store close to where they live), he told us that management had to call the police to break up several fights in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart.. before the store had even opened.

What is it with the frenzy of Wal-Mart shoppers? Why would they feel the need to fight? Where is their stinking Christmas spirit? Good grief.

After that, we went to several more stores over the course of the day. My sister has almost all of her Christmas shopping done. I need to buy about 5 more things & I’ll be finished.

I got a new (fake) tree.. a pre-lit one. I love the idea & smell of a real tree, but cannot have one b/c of oldest daughter’s allergies & asthma.

FINISHED!!

I reached my goal of 50,000 words late last night. 🙂 I officially have 50,039 words at this moment. I will continue to add to the storyline until the end of the month, but it sure is a relief to know that I’ve reached the goal. The pressure is OFF now. Whew!

NaNoWriMo

current word count: 49,170

words remaining to reach the 50,000 mark: 830

WOOHOO!!! I’m giddy with excitement! Almost done!!! 🙂

Going to bed early

so I can hit the “after thanksgiving” sales tomorrow morning with my sister. She is so cute. When I walked in the door at mom & dad’s house this morning, she had her shopping list ready & knew what times the stores open & in which order we should visit them.

My list is quite short this year… I don’t think I’ll spend much $$ at all. I just don’t need much that’s in the sale ads and am not going to kill myself for something that’s still the same price I can get it for any other day.

In one month

I will be 36. It is so strange to think that I’ll be that old.

new template

I just changed the template… it looks the same on IE and Firefox on my pc… let me know if you have problems with giant fonts again, ok?

I’ve decided to use the snowflake theme right now for the background… and for the Bon Jovi ticker.. as it is likely the only snow I will see this year here in Oklahoma. 🙂

huge font in posts

Great. I looked at my blog with Internet Explorer after seeing Linny’s comment & the letters in the posts are the letters for the title line. I’m not sure how to change it.. so I made it not bold & set at 100% instead of 340%.

I wonder what that’s all about. The text in posts are black when using firefox browser.

How awful. I am not sure that I’d read it if it looked like that on my screen. I may have to change the template so it looks the same with both browsers.

Sorry, IE users!!

45,430 words now. YIPPEE! Only 4,570 left to go! My goal is to be to 50,000 words by Thanksgiving.. and then to add more to round out my story until the end of the month without having to worry about reaching my goal.

our captain underpants inspired adventure

Last night after dinner, I heard a strange noise in the bathroom. A frantic shuffling and loud dropping of the toilet seat several times.. like someone was lifting & dropping it over & over. I knocked on the door but was answered by youngest daughter saying, NO! Not yet! Hold on a minute!!

So I waited a minute… then went in. It smelled really weird in there. A very “non-bathroom” smell.
I looked around, and noticed something strange on the wall about a foot under the ceiling… and on the toilet bowl.

It

was

ketchup.

I called youngest daughter back in there, asked her what in the world ketchup was doing all over the bathroom.

Here’s what she told me:
I was reading a Captain Underpants book and thought I’d try one of his ideas. He put ketchup packets under the seat of the toilet.. under those little things that stick down.. and when someone sits down, it squirts ketchup on their legs. So I tried it. But I pushed down on it really slowly.. and it didn’t squirt straight out. It kind of went in the wrong direction. One went down & the other went up. But I think it would work great if someone sat down really fast like they were going to go potty.

I asked her, What made you think this was a good idea?

Youngest daughter: Well, we had the ketchup packets.

Then youngest daughter reminded me why she likes Captain Underpants so much… “Remember mom? He’s the guy whose grade school teacher said he’d never amount to anything if all he did was draw cartoons all day. And look at him now. So HA on her!”

Good grief.

Non-deployable

My ex husband called last night to tell me he’s been classified as “non-deployable.” He was supposed to be deploying to Iraq today. On Wednesday, when he went back in to complete his physical, he was told that something was wrong with his kidney function test. He didn’t say what it was.

So now, his wife has to go afterall (he had volunteered to go in her place, b/c her unit deployed today & they work in the same area, similar jobs). His wife now has to go to Iraq in January. The ex is going to a military hospital for extensive testing sometime in December.

I feel badly for his wife.. having to leave her family. Their children are so young… 4, 3 & 1. When the ex went to Korea when we were married, our kids were 6, 4 & 3.

My/our kids are thrilled at the possibility of seeing their dad & his family for Christmas. 🙂

Now to 40,075 words at last count… a few minutes ago. 🙂
