I started taking the formulated thyroid medicine this morning. It is a combination of T3 and T4 based on the blood test that I had last month. The test measured free T3, free T4, thyroid peroxidase antibodies, and total thyroid. I think that is everything. It turns out that I have a really high number of thyroid antibodies fighting against the thyroid, causing an autoimmune disease called Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. Symptoms of this are fatigue, depression, sensitivity to cold, weight gain, increased menstrual flow, muscle cramps, constipation, dry or brittle hair. I have some of these symptoms, but thankfully not all.
