May 19May 19May 25May 25
There were more flowers this morning, but I didn’t have my camera. I will take pics tomorrow to post here. I feel kind of dorky being so excited about that African violet finally blooming.. but it’s been a year!

Jazzie

This is Jazzie, my parents’ dog. She is half sheltie & half lhasa apso. She’s the best little dog ever!
Oops! I didn’t get her tail in this pic. I’ll have to take another one to post soon.

I emailed my mom a copy of my last Thursday Thirteen list over the weekend. Here’s her reply:
Thanks, Nat. I believe that fits right in with “Her children rise and up call her blessed” from Prov. 31. You just made my day!Love Bunches,Mom
I am so glad that out of all the [...]

sunburn

I have a sunburn. My sunscreen wore off & then the SPF15 didn’t protect me anymore. I hate when I do dumb things like this that later cause me pain. I just need to whine about it for a minute & then I will move on.
WAAAAAH! It hurts!
OK. [...]

Red Hat Society

Have you heard of the Red Hat Society?
I had not until a few years ago when I was reading a book about a lady over fifty who became a Red Hat member.
Apparently, my co-worker has not heard of the Red Hat Society. On Friday, she received a catalog order at work. [...]

speedbumps, tampons & boy stuff

Youngest daughter told me tonight that she has “speedbumps” and that she thinks she needs a bra.
Oldest daughter was concerned about being able to swim this summer during her monthly cycle.. so we had a talk… about products.
Son is going to be a young man soon, instead of a little boy. I’m dreading [...]

slobbery kisses.. ICK!

As youngest daughter was leaving to go skating with a friend tonight, I gave her a kiss on the cheek & hugged her. She looked at me & said, “I’m glad you’re not a slobbery kisser. Whenever Dad kisses me, he leaves a big wet spot on my cheek & it’s gross.” [...]

Big, Blue and uhhh… Furry??

Today, we had an 82 year old patient named Grovaline.
I immediately thought of Grover on Sesame Street. But Sesame Street was not around 82 years ago!
Funny how the name trends go, huh? I’m sure not many little girls are running around carrying the name Grovaline these days.

thirteen things I admire about my family
1. Work ethic. My grandparents were hard workers. They taught this to their children. And they, my parents, taught it to my sisters & me in turn. I hope to teach this to my children.
2. Integrity. My parents are the [...]

African Violet

I have five flowers on my African Violet today. Yes, FIVE! It looks like eight or nine more will bloom soon. I’m so happy about it finally blooming again after a year and a half. I had begun to wonder if it was having an identity crisis and was [...]

Things are looking up

The kids have discovered that quite a few of their friends from school will be at the summer program they will be attending. They’re much less unhappy about going. Although, they’re still not happy that they’ll have to get up & leave early when I leave each morning.
They will survive, though… [...]
